VOLUNTEERING AT THE ASPEN CULTURE PROJECT

The Aspen FORWARD is part of a peer advocacy youth led programme delivered in partnership with FORWARD aimed at raising awareness and tackling issues related to sexual violence including FGM (female genital mutilation).

PROJECT VOLUNTEERS (different roles such as facilitators/photographers/video-makers/artists etc)

We are also looking for volunteers of any age to support the development of the Aspen FORWARD project at all stages. The volunteers will be able to access an induction and training opportunities, and opportunities to develop leadership and project management skills in a lively and creative team! An interest in gender issues and diversity is desirable and we welcome different skills and backgrounds.

Volunteers will work alongside Aspen staff on different activities including:

  • Supporting the young participants becoming youth advocates and taking leadership on the project
  • Facilitation of session and workshops
  • Supporting delivery and organisation of events
  • Supporting the youth advocates to deliver activities and events ,including  a anti-FGM national campaign
  • Opportunities of volunteering in different roles according to skills & experience (such as photography, journalism, video making, facilitation, campaigning)

We welcome young adults and women interested in getting a valuable professional experience while supporting a national anti-FGM and sexual violence programme.

Please notice that we have an office also in Newcastle but most of our activities will be delivered in Middlesbrough with sessions every two weeks (this might change according to the schedule)
